Santa Rosa County Schools

The Santa Rosa County School District serves over 28,000 students and has been "A" ranked 16 of the 17 years since the inception of performance metrics in 1999. The District ranks 2nd or 3rd in almost every performance category on statewide assessments. Florida ranks 4th in the nation in increase in SAT/ACT proficiency, Santa Rosa ranks at the top (well above state average) in Florida.

Santa Rosa County has a robust Workforce Education program serving over 5,000 students in programs leading to high-skill, in-demand occupations. This includes 65 career academies spanning 13 career clusters, and 20 postsecondary career training programs. The County also recently launched the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics STEAM Innovate Program, a five-year transformation and partnership with Discovery Education, a division of the globally recognized Discovery Communications.

Higher Education

University of West Florida

The University of West Florida is a public university located in Pensacola. UWF is a member institution of the State University System of Florida and is a Doctoral/Research University, which specializes in engineering and the humanities. The University has nearly 12,000 students and offers 51 bachelor's degrees and 25 master's degrees. UWF was established in 1963 and has the third largest campus in the State University System.

In 2010, UWF opened a new multi-million-dollar facility, home of the new School of Science and Engineering including the Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, and Software Engineering programs.

The building includes prototype robot fabrication and testing laboratories, 3-D virtual reality simulators, a state-of-the-art holo deck and a glass wall atrium that helps put science into public view. This construction is based on Project Kaleidoscope, a national initiative funded project by the National Science Foundation and the Keck Foundation. This collegiate facility is one of the first of its kind.

Pensacola State College

Enrollment of 34,000 students. The college offers full-service campuses in Milton, Pensacola and Warrington, as well as the Downtown Center and a center at Pensacola Naval Air Station. Pensacola State offers more than 100 majors and concentrations.

Northwest Florida State College

Student body of 7,000 students. Northwest Florida State College operates a joint campus with the University of West Florida. Northwest Florida State College has specialized programs in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, and Child-Care.

Northwest Florida State College operates a joint campus with the University of West Florida, and currently has the lowest tuition and fees of any public or private college in the state of Florida. With a student body of 7,000 students, Northwest Florida State College has specialized programs in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, and Child-Care. Last year, 82% of graduating students had received some kind of financial aid from Northwest Florida State College in order to attend. Northwest Florida State College's Arts Center for instructional and performing arts has 1,650 seats in its main theater. It features Broadway shows, a 195 seat flexible theater, an art wing with two galleries, a music wing, and a 24 track recording studio.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide established campuses in Fort Walton Beach and Pensacola in the early 1990s and added the Hurlburt Campus in 2001.
